Study pinpoints the preferred route for rail link to connect Doncaster and the city

It is interesting to watch the progress of the preferred route for the Doncaster line. Ending the line at a car park (the park and ride) seems like a ludicrous idea. I would need to take two buses to get to the train from where I live in Templestowe. The park-and-ride is a long way from the Doncaster activity centre.

The Liberal part came to power in the last election with the promise and intent of building the Doncaster line. By the next election I doubt if a single spade of dirt will have been turned.

I am not endorsing the plan for a rail link one way or the other. My desire is to encourage people to shop and work locally and if more people did that there would be less need for public transport to the city. People don’t think they can make a difference but if people used their buying power to support other locals (not necessarily existing businesses as they may not be owned or staffed by locals) and generate work for them, then things can start to change. It begins with each of us. We can make a difference.
